01 / WELCOME

Welcome to my professional ePortfolio! I am a senior at SUNY Cortland majoring in Physical Education and preparing for a career in teaching and coaching.
This portfolio shares my educational journey, professional preparation, and commitment to helping students grow through physical activity.
A love for being active, inside and outside.02 / A LITTLE ABOUT ME
My name is Carter Ducatte, and I am from Plattsburgh, New York. I enjoy sports, physical activity, and spending time outdoors. These interests have helped shape my goal of becoming a physical education teacher and coach.
I value teamwork, adaptability, and positive relationships. As a future educator, I want students to feel comfortable participating, trying something new, and building confidence in their abilities.
03 / MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
Through my coursework and field experiences, I am developing my teaching skills and learning how to create meaningful connections with students.
Through PED 229, a selective course at SUNY Cortland, I am currently teaching fourth- and fifth-grade students at Whitney Point Elementary. Each class, I teach two 15-minute lessons that combine sports skills with the SETS values: self-control, effort, teamwork, and social responsibility.
My first lesson paired soccer dribbling with self-control, giving students opportunities to practice controlling their movements and managing their responses to challenges. After each group’s lesson, we award a LiFEsports pin to a student who best demonstrated the featured SETS value. This ongoing experience is helping me develop my lesson planning, instruction, and ability to support students’ physical and personal growth.
Through EDU 255, I completed two weeks of full-day observations: one week at Plattsburgh Middle School and one at Plattsburgh High School. I observed how local teachers organize instruction and manage their classrooms, and I had the opportunity to lead a full class independently.
I also spent free time in the lunchroom talking with students and getting to know them. These conversations helped me build connections and reinforced the importance of showing interest in students beyond instructional time.
04 / WHAT GUIDES MY TEACHING
I want to provide activities, modifications, and appropriate challenges that help every student participate meaningfully.
I aim to build trust through encouragement, clear expectations, and consistent support.
I believe physical education can develop physical skills while helping students practice teamwork, communication, leadership, and perseverance.

06 / LOOKING AHEAD
My goal is to teach physical education and health and coach, preferably in the Plattsburgh area. I anticipate completing my bachelor’s degree in May 2027 and my Health Education master’s degree through SUNY Cortland’s 4+1 program in Spring 2028.
I want to create an inclusive environment where students feel supported, develop confidence, and learn skills they can carry beyond physical education and athletics.
I am open to movement and growth throughout my career. As I gain experience, I would welcome opportunities to take on leadership roles, such as athletic director or principal, and continue supporting students, colleagues, and my school community.
07 / LET’S CONNECT
I welcome opportunities to connect about physical education, coaching, and professional growth.
